“Capitalism Needs Champions.”

📄 Advisory Memo: Champions of Capitalism Must Step Up

My friend — Hennessey’s call to action in The Wall Street Journal could not have come at a better time. As someone who has spent decades teaching entrepreneurship, building businesses, and fighting for conservative, market-driven solutions, I can tell you plainly: capitalism does not defend itself.

We are entering a season where the opponents of free enterprise are loud, organized, and increasingly mainstream. That means it’s up to us — business leaders, educators, parents, and citizens — to speak up, to model the benefits of capitalism, and to educate the next generation about what’s at stake.

Here are my actionable steps, inspired by the editorial and informed by my own experience:

📌 Action Plan

Stop being silent.

  • Speak up in your boardrooms, schools, and churches about the dignity of work, the innovation of markets, and the prosperity that comes from ownership.

  • Share your own stories — people respect authentic, lived examples more than statistics.

Educate the young.

  • Volunteer to mentor or teach. I personally teach financial literacy to 400+ high-schoolers annually — because if we don’t explain capitalism, someone else will misrepresent it.

Acknowledge imperfections.

  • Critics are right about one thing: no system is perfect. But the beauty of capitalism is that it allows correction and innovation without coercion. Don’t deny the flaws — address them head-on.

Engage your community.

  • Fund scholarships, support local businesses, and champion policies that lower barriers to entrepreneurship in your city or state.

Measure and broadcast results.

  • Follow my motto: Listen. Believe. Measure. Show the tangible benefits your business or community initiative creates — jobs, profits, philanthropy — and share those results widely.

If you believe in free markets, now is your time to earn your seat at the table and make your voice heard. As I like to say: gratitude is shown through action, not just words.

I’m available to help you craft a message, teach a seminar, or develop a campaign around these principles. Let’s keep America prosperous, free, and full of opportunity — measurable opportunity.

Next Step: Identify one place this month — classroom, community group, LinkedIn post, board meeting — where you will actively defend and explain the virtues of capitalism.

Listen. Believe. Measure. Let’s go.
