Safe Travle STEPS

When U.S. citizens travel internationally, they are encouraged to register with the U.S. Department of State through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This free service allows travelers to receive important safety and security updates from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate and helps the embassy contact them in case of emergencies abroad.

Benefits of Enrolling in STEP

Receive Alerts: Stay informed about safety conditions in your destination country, including health alerts, natural disasters, civil unrest, and other emergencies.

Emergency Assistance: Facilitates communication between the U.S. embassy and travelers during crises, such as evacuations or natural disasters.

Family Contact: Helps family and friends in the U.S. get in touch with you during emergencies.

How to Enroll

1. Create an Account: Visit the STEP website (https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step) and create a free account.

2. Enter Trip Details: Provide information about your upcoming trip, including destination, dates, and contact information.

3. Stay Updated: Once enrolled, you’ll receive relevant alerts and updates for your travel destination.

For more information and to enroll, visit the official STEP page (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/step.html).
