Broward County Teachers Travel to Washington, D.C. to Advocate for Safer Schools During Teacher Appreciation Week

Washington, D.C. – May 2025
As the nation celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, two passionate Broward County teachers and a prominent South Florida real estate agent took their dedication beyond the classroom and the local community — all the way to Capitol Hill.
These advocates traveled to Washington, D.C. to secure interest in safer schools and the SafeEVAC Exclusive Open House, a groundbreaking event showcasing the future of school safety and emergency preparedness through AI-powered evacuation technology. Their mission: to ensure that every student, teacher, and school staff member has access to safer, smarter, and faster emergency response systems.
Pioneering Change in School Safety
Hosted at the American Foreign Service Association and the Cannon House Office Building, the SafeEVAC event introduced a first-of-its-kind AI threat detection and intelligent evacuation system. Designed to provide real-time data during emergencies, this technology helps guide building occupants and first responders through safer evacuation protocols — reducing panic, improving response times, and ultimately saving lives.
The Broward delegation promoted how SafeEVAC’s systems respond to evolving threats, from active shooter scenarios to fire and structural emergencies. The team met with public safety officials, lawmakers, and innovators to discuss how these solutions can be implemented in schools and public facilities.
A Mission Beyond the Classroom
“Being here during Teacher Appreciation Week is symbolic,” said one of the attending educators. “We’re not just celebrating teachers — we’re standing up for our students, our colleagues, and our communities by demanding action for safer learning environments.”
The group emphasized the importance of proactive investment in school safety, calling for bipartisan support to bring AI-powered evacuation systems into districts like Broward County and across the nation.
