It is my privilege to introduce William Van, a distinguished leader, veteran, and public servant, who graciously took the time to meet with me during my visit to Tennessee.
Van has devoted much of his life to serving both his country and the people of Tennessee. Born and raised in Dayton, Tennessee, Van is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee and Cumberland School of Law. His commitment to service began early in his career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew 24 missions during the Gulf War and served honorably in both active duty and reserve capacities.
In 1994, Van was elected to represent Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Over his four terms in Congress, he built a strong record as a principled conservative and advocate for the values of his constituents. Known for his accessibility and integrity, he consistently worked to uphold fiscal responsibility, defend national security, and support Tennessee’s families and businesses.
After stepping away from Congress, Van continued contributing as a consultant and later returned to Capitol Hill as Chief of Staff to Representative John Rose, where he has provided steady leadership and counsel.
Now, in 2025, Van has once again answered the call to serve, declaring his candidacy for Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District — a seat being vacated by John Rose as he pursues the governorship. With his proven experience, unwavering character, and deep understanding of Tennessee’s needs, Van is uniquely prepared to represent the people of the 6th District with honor and effectiveness.
The people of Tennessee are fortunate to have such a steadfast and experienced leader stepping forward at this important time. Please join me in welcoming and supporting Van Hilleary as he continues his lifelong dedication to service and leadership. July 11th at Bagsby Ranch. RSVP: Josh@VanForTN.com.
