🇺🇸 A Radical Holiday Idea: What If Buying American Was 100% Tax Deductible?

ree

By Robert W. Sutton — Conservative Financial Educator

Every holiday season, Americans open their wallets. We buy gifts for our families, our children, our friends, our coworkers—and too often, our dollars drift overseas into the pockets of corporations who don’t know our values, don’t support our workers, and don’t strengthen our communities.

So here’s a thought:

What if ANY purchase—yes, any gift—made in America or purchased from an American worker, craftsman, or small business owner… was 100% tax deductible until December 31?

Imagine the impact.

🇺🇸 1. America First—With Real Financial Power Behind It

We talk a lot about “Buy American,” but the reality is simple:Incentives drive behavior.

If families knew they could write off the toys, tools, clothing, crafts, and goods made by American workers, suddenly every holiday choice becomes an economic vote for the United States.

This isn’t just patriotic—it’s smart economics.

🛠️ 2. Small Businesses Would See the Greatest Boom

Millions of small American businesses—Etsy sellers, local craftsmen, mom-and-pop shops, farmers, bakers, welders, candle-makers, creators—would feel an immediate, powerful surge.

This one tax incentive could create thousands of jobs before New Year’s Day.

Instead of subsidizing foreign manufacturing, we would finally reward the people who actually build this country.

🎁 3. Families Would Pay Less, Earn More, and Keep Wealth at Home

Think about it:

  • Americans could stretch their holiday budgets.

  • Local economies would see more cash flow.

  • Workers would see stronger revenue—directly in their pockets.

  • And the federal government would see increased tax revenue long-term through economic expansion.

A win for families.A win for communities.A win for American workers.

🧭 4. A Policy That Reflects American Values

This idea isn’t about politics. It’s about priorities.

We should reward:

Hard workAmerican craftsmanshipLocal productionSmall businessesEconomic patriotism

What better season to show gratitude for the workers who keep this country running?

🎄 A Different Kind of Holiday Spirit

Instead of just exchanging gifts, we could be strengthening the nation.

So maybe the question isn’t: “Should this be tax deductible?”Maybe the better question is:

Why hasn’t Congress done this already?

Just a thought—But sometimes the simplest ideas are the ones that truly move a nation forward.
